Transition to Ghana, from Ouaga to Tamale

Thursday, November 8th it was time to say good-bye to Burkina Faso.  Sharyn has made our stay in Burkina very memorable.  She volunteered to drive us to the border, a 2½-hour journey.  Dan and Dianne Dzokotoe drove 3½ hours from Tamale to pick us up.  The 2 vehicles arrived at the border within 5 minutes of each other!!  Talk about good timing!  Customs was quite easy and soon we were on our way.

The drive was fascinating.  Instead of all the rectangular homes we had seen in rural Burkina, we were seeing round homes with thatched roofs.

It was fun drive getting acquainted with each other.  We had met Dan 12 years ago, on our previous time in Ghana.  But we had not met Di, who is from Newfoundland. Dan made a stop to buy tomatoes.  Dan and Di serve with GILLBT - the local organization that is affiliated with Wycliffe.

One stop was for lunch at a fine café.

Another stop was at a lake full of crocodiles.

Some of the crocs have been trained to allow people to hold their tails – for the reward of live chicken, which disappears in one gulf, feathers and all.   Imagine is the croc decided to swing around and grab human arm!  No thought of that when we did what the guide suggested.

Dan and Di insisted that we stay at their place, so we settled into a very nice guest room with air conditioning and adjoining bathroom.
