When we cross the border into Ghana, on November 8 we will be met by Dan and Dianne Dzokotoe. Both of them have graciously guided us through the large amount of paper work, to get us into the country - which includes an official letter of invitation so that we could apply for a visa. The letter needed to include a government issued picture ID of Dan!
Dan and Dianne have both served for years with the local Wycliffe organization called GILLBT. That big acronym stands for Ghana Institute of Linguistics, Literacy and Bible Translation. Dan is the Associate Director of Administration and Human Resources. Dianne comes from Newfoundland, so we are looking forward to "Newfie" talk, or will it be "Neufie" talk? We have fond memories of a week once spent in Newfoundland, exploring the island from West to East while on a trip for Living Free Ministries. In addition to working with GILLBT, Dan and Dianne have a Christian private school so they are indeed people with vision and passion! Amazingly, 96% of their students are from Muslim homes! We are very much looking forward to enjoying their company and helping them.
Welcome to our Africa blog! We leave on October 23 and return to Winnipeg on November 24. The trip includes 2 weeks in Burkina Faso and 2 weeks in Ghana. This blog tells the story! If you are new to blogs, you should know that the most recent posts are added at the top of the "HOME" tab. You may want to start reading at the bottom to get the sequence. At the very bottom of the page you will see "older posts" which means you can go back even further by clicking on it. Check out our links!
