On our first day at her home, Sharyn took us to visit Pastor Antoine and the Bible School. He is the assistant director of the Bible School and chairperson of the Translation Committee.
Sitting outside under the thatch, he shared with us his
story of moving from animism to Communism to Christ. What a story!
He is a man of passion! Very
committed to Bible translation! His
wife prepared a meal for us – TOH and sauce with chicken. But before going into the house to eat,
Antoine pulled out his computer to ask Sharyn a few questions about the Excel
Spread Sheet. He handles the finances of
the school.
After dinner we got a tour of the Bible School. Classes resume in 2 weeks, so we were seeing
what the school is like in off-season.
Most students are married men, and there are dormitory accommodations for families.
Classrooms are multi-purpose. Right now the corn harvest is stored in them.
We stopped to say hello to the school director. As soon as we sat down, we were served water
to drink. This is proper etiquette
here.
When we were ready to leave Antoine selected a big chicken as a gift. He and Sharyn tied its legs together so that it would be secured on the back of the truck for our journey home.
